*deep breath*

We turned the hard drive off, gave it a few hours to cool down, turned it back on, put a fan on it, and got all the data from the reachable partition except for one file, which is replaceable.

There are still lost files on the other partition, but life is better than it was.

Among other things, this means you shouldn’t be seeing any more of these sporadic back-and-forth status reports. (But at this point I don’t want to make any promises.)

Spoke too soon.

Shouldn’t have talked about what was safe before it was actually copied. Don’t count your chickens, etc., etc.

The comics are safely on stable disc space. So is the music. The torrent, no. The Chii shots, no. Everything from the Jon/Stephen/Conan fight, no.

New computer is due to arrive March 13, which means I’ll get it on Monday the 16th when I return from spring break.

A flash drive should show up sooner, so I’ll at least have some digital real estate in hand.
