Hair today, gone tomorrow. No, seriously. Gone.

March 25, 2008

When I was in the second grade, I wanted either really long hair or a buzz cut.

My mother, wise woman that she is, absolutely forbade the latter.

That’s when I started growing my hair out. And, since I had a fringe at the time and was growing that out too, it’s when I started wearing headbands.

Last year, over spring break, I cut off two feet of that hair for a good cause. This year, with very little left to lose, I decided it was about time to get that buzz cut.

So. Pictures!

These Long, Long Weeks In Erin

March 16, 2008

Fake News
Stephen’s Repression (art, PG-13)
Hello, Nurse (fic, PG)
State of Grace, chapters 27 (fic, PG-13), 28 (PG-13), 29 (PG-13), 30 (PG-13), 31 (R), 32 (PG), 33 (PG-13); illustrations (worksafe)

Rainbow Brite
This may ruin your childhood. Because I have no Rainbow Brite-related nostalgia, I have no moral qualms about making her a dom ^_~

Hellsing
Art Meme (one answer is NSFW)

This Week in Shine:
Heinkel and Amon start duking it out, while Timothy and Chuchu leap to defend Anthy from Robin — until the witch is revealed. Who should really be fighting who, here?

Then, three weeks of guest strips, while I order, wait for, fight with, and configure a new computer. Good times.

Miscellaneous
I have a new YouTube account. Vids from the fake newsverse, Hellsing, Doctor Who, Star Trek, and more. And nothing that isn’t fair use this time; I’d rather hang on to this username.

…and good night.

March 7, 2008

In spite of winter storms (we passed an overturned car in the road: not smashed, just on its side) and plane delays (an hour and a half! I could have walked slowly and taken the next train!), made it safely to the grandparents’ house in Ohio.

Will likely spend much of tomorrow (a) fighting to get the wireless router working and (b) having quality family time. For now, though: sleep!

Spring Break

March 7, 2008

Possibly interesting observations, in no particular order:

I have officially survived my midterms.
I have my computer back. And partitioned. And I’ve done several hours’ worth of software installation/configuration. (More to come, but at least I’m making progress.)
I keep remembering more files I lost. A couple of ripped CDs, the songs never sorted out of My Music. Most of my Paint Shop Pro textures—including nearly all of the ones I used with any frequency. Every cool font. There’s a lot of rebuilding to do.
Shine is going to run one more week of guest strips. The break should give me time to catch up.
And with that, I’m out the door to catch my flight. See you on the flip side.

Oh, I hope I hope I hope.

March 5, 2008

The system recovery discs just showed up in the mail.

Will they install the system properly? Will they undo my drive partitioning? Will they quit halfway through? Who knows?

But they’re here, just in time to give me the peace of mind I need to not fail my French midterm.

In the home stretch?

March 3, 2008

Lenovo tech support just opened for the week, and the poor guy currently on the line has me on hold trying to figure out what the guy I last talked to (who doesn’t get in today until 3:00) was going to have me do next.

The hold music is a choppy instrumental version of “House of the Rising Sun.”

(On the plus side, I finally have a flash drive.)

ETA: I now have an actual direct number for tech support, which apparently is open all weekend. Wish I’d had this on Friday night. And a set of (authorized) recovery discs is in the mail, in case these files don’t work out.

So now I’m waiting for 3:00. Or possibly Tuesday.
