You hate AkioxUtena?! But it’s so deliciously perverse and twisted (and canon)! I usually ship AkioxUtenaxAnthy. Akio’s awesome enough to be able to pull off polyamorous ships. As I like to say, the Akio Car has three other seats for a reason! XD
JurixShiori…Meh. Shiori’s too much of a manipulative schemer for me to like her (moreso in the movie), so I don’t like pairing Juri with her since Juri is pretty awesome. JurixRuka is much more interesting given the symbolism at play: Juri as Ubermench, Shiori as Priesthood, and Ruka as Nietzsche – and God really is dead!

AkioxUtena as it is in canon makes me sad on the inside. I like strong!Utena, not manipulated!Utena. And Anthy’s been taken advantage of far too much; she deserves to geta way from it.

That’s one interpretation. Another, which I favor, is that Utena is the same as the student council: she’s fixated on the prince the same way Miki’s fixated on nostalgia and Juri’s fixated on miracles. Akio brings her back to reality through their relationship, helping her mature into a woman.
Where she disagrees with Akio is that while he says the adult world requires discarding “childish” ideals, she continues to hold on to them, sacrificing herself for her them and by doing so saving Anthy. Because of her relationship with Akio, she comes to believe in those ideals by choice, rather than with the same compulsiveness of the student council (though I think it’s implied both Juri and Miki overcome their fixations).
