Happy Bisexual Pride Day!

September 23, 2008

“The 10 Rules of Being a Lesbian.” Part 1 of 3; the whole thing is on YouTube. Funny and sweet and hot. I want friends like these.

The latest permutation of the “Nigerian banker” money scam.

Compare the candidates’ speeches, word-by-word. Obama has said “America” about twice as much as McCain. Neither has ever said “sailor,” but Obama has said “moon” much more often, as he has “hell” and “sing”.

And I think I’m in love with Strange Maps. Check out The World, Justified. Map-as-font.

  1. That Nigerian parody is a tad unfair: Democrats are salivating over the thought of expanding government’s role in the economy in amounts that could grow to trillions just as much as the fake fiscal conservatives. Just listen to how they want to use this as an excuse to heap more interventions on the market, when it was policy makers who pushed banks to give out the risky loans who started this whole thing!

    Fortunately we still have a few real conservatives (ex. Ron Paul, Shelby) who are standing up to this egregious mess and trying to remind people that Paulson has been wrong in every other request and this is certainly no different. Dodd’s welcome to take a stand alongside them against this, though I think it’s obvious his opposition doesn’t stem so much from his financial acumen and more from playing the typical contrarian (just like most Dems and GOP types).

  2. …Um, the whole point of the parody is that Paulson is wrong. Which means that it agrees with the “real conservatives” you’re talking about.

  3. Finally got my computer rebuilt to a point I could watch that movie. I’ll assume it’s accurate, though if it isn’t feel free to correct my analysis. I’m more familiar with the behavior of homosexual males than females, so it was an interesting look into something I can’t be privy to due to my gender.

    It’s interesting to note the similarities and differences between homosexual men and women and their socializing methods. For example, gay males will invite straight women to their parties, but I noticed the distinct lack of any male presence in this one. The explanation offered by the “womyn” texts I’ve read is that men are excluded to help women feel relaxed and at ease. I wonder why homosexual males feel comfortable socializing around girls, but lesbians don’t (on average). It’s certainly a behavioral matter worth investigating (i.e. homosexuality, gender, and its effect on perspectives of the opposite gender).

    The drama thing is universal. The stories I’ve been told by several promiscuous males are very similar to what the video portrays. I don’t think the “ex’s are best friends” rule applies as strongly, though – most cases I know of the exes will stop talking to each other. Likewise the “degrees of separation” rule may play differently among guys due to different networking habits. Not sure about the “number of break ups” rule or “dog year” rule.

    And I hope when you find friends that they aren’t the type to get disturbingly drunk. ^_^;
