A group of people from Westboro Baptist Church (that’s Fred Phelps’ “God hates gay people”, “let’s picket the funerals of fallen soldiers” hate machine) staged a protest at my brother’s high school on Monday.
The real story, though, is the 250-person counterprotest.
You can see my brother himself in picture #2. (Sort of. He’s the guy behind the car behind the guy behind the pole.) Mom was there too, waving a cape-sized rainbow flag on my behalf.
In short, the good guys have come out on top. I’m only sorry I wasn’t on the continent to join in.
