Fandom, fandom everywhere May 18, 2010

Posted by Erin Ptah in News Roundup.

Genderbend Big Bang is still looking for artists. Anyone who would be up for illustrating an awesome long story that involves screwing with gender, go take a look.

Gorgeous Oz art – the original Neill illustrations from four of the books – at oldbookart.com. A couple of my favorites: Dorothy in Kansas; Princess Ozma; Dorothy, Glinda, and Ozma (with bonus tied-up Ruggedo).

Upcoming live-action Maria-sama ga Miteru movie! There’s a pretty slideshow of the cast here.

Manga enthusiasm among kids at Queens libraries, treated with a refreshing amount of respect.

Neil Gaiman talks Good Omens, including the trickiness inherent in the idea of writing a sequel now that there’s so much fanfiction it would have to measure up to.

Werner Herzog reads Where’s Waldo. Delightfully existential.

A panel discussion on what makes a meme go mainstream, along with the mainstreaming of the concept of memes in general.

Pro author Cecilia Tan declares her full support for fanfiction of her work. Note especially the solid legal ground on which she rests her position.

Woo! Thanks for the shout out!
